A friend's dream
There was a lady I've known that when she was young she always dreamt of becoming a teacher someday. Every time her teacher asked them to wrote a biography she always wrote that her greatest ambition was to become a successful teacher. I remember that she made a promise to herself that one day she would become a principal in one of the schools in their province. But things were changed when she decided to moved and settle here in Canada.
When she finished her degree in Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics she was so happy. Getting a degree in her homeland was not easy. She was born in the Philippines and lived there for almost twenty-six years. It took her sixteen years to finished her studies and to become a teacher. Right after she graduated from her degree, she processed her paper so that she can took a licensure examinations for teacher. By her luck, she past her licensure examination for teachers and right then she was so happy because she fulfilled her dreamt to become a teacher.
Before coming here to Canada, she was an elementary teacher for almost five years. She was a public elementary teacher. She taught grades four, five and six. She was the adviser of the grade six. Aside from being an adviser and a teacher, she was also the guidance counselor of the school. While she was working as a teacher, she also enrolled herself in graduate school. She took a Master of Arts in Education major in Administration at the university in their province. She was so motivated on her dreamt on becoming a school principal at the age of thirty. Even though her stepfather disappointed her to finished her Master's degree she still engaged herself on finishing it. But unfortunately she didn't finish it. She missed the thesis writing which was the last part of her Master's degree. She wasn't able to finished it because there was a better opportunity had arrived that time, she received her permanent resident visa her in Canada.
It was hard for her to lived her routine and work knowing that she really loved teaching. She was crying in tears when she was about to give up her position as a public elementary school teacher. The day of her resignation was also the day when she flew here in Canada.
I know for sure that she missed her life back home specially teaching. I encouraged her to become a teacher in here but she was afraid. Every time it's a school opening here in Canada, you can see her going to malls and checking for a good stuff in stationary for school supplies. She really admired the things for school. She is really a teacher within her heart. She always told me that when she goes back home she will buy lots of school supplies and give it to the school where she was teaching before.
I only hope that one day, somebody will encourage here to become a teacher here in Canada so that she can fulfilled her dreamt of becoming a successful teacher.
