Education System in Saskatchewan and the Republic of the Philippines

Based on what I read in Wikipedia, "Education in Canada is funded and overseen by federal and provincial governments. Education is within the provincial jurisdiction and the curriculum is overseen by the province. The education in Canada is divided into primary education, followed by secondary education and post-secondary education. Within the provinces under the Ministry of Education, there are district school boards administering the education programs . Education is compulsory up to the age of 16 in every province in Canada, except for Manitoba, Ontario and New Brunswick, where the compulsory age is 18, or as soon as a high school diploma has been achieved. In some provinces early leaving exemptions can be granted under certain circumstances at 14. Canada generally has 190 (180 in Quebec) school days in the year, officially starting from September (after Labour Day) to the end of June (usually the last Friday of the month, except in Quebec when it is just before June 24 – the provincial holiday)".

Education in the Philippines changed radically. The Department of Education is the sole department that administers the entire educational system in the country. The curriculum along with the utilization of given funds for school services, equipment, recruitment of teachers and all other things needed. The former educational system of the Philippines is not compulsory and had a total of 10 years to complete it. It was composed of 6 years of elementary education starting the age of 6, and 4 years of high school education starting at the age of 12. With this kind of system education is not compulsory. However in the year 2011 signaled the start of the implementation of the new educational system, which is the K-12 educational system. It includes the new curricula for all the schools. With this system, education will be now compulsory. All public and private schools in the Philippines must start classes from a date mandated by the Department of Education usually every first Monday of June for public schools only and must end after the each school completes the mandated 200-day school calendar of Department of Education usually around the third week of March to the second week of April. The four phases of the implementation of the new educational system in the Philippines is still in process.

Based on what I read and experience about the educational system of the the two countries. I will still prefer the educational system in the Philippines. Education in the Philippines is more competitive. Most of the Filipinos had a chance to go to abroad it is because of the quality of education that the country provides them. Wherever you go in the whole world you can a Filipino worker it is because the educational system in the Philippines made them competitive to all other workers.

It's all about Christmas - late post!

Listen to this reading (right click and click on Open in New Tab) and take dictation on the following blanks:
1 Long ago God spoke to the fathers by the prophets at different times and in different ways. 2 In these last days, he has spoken to us by his son. God has appointed Him heir of all things and made the universe through Him. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact expression of His nature, sustaining all things by His powerful word. After making purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. 4 So He became higher in rank than the angels, just as the name He inherited is superior to theirs.
Listen to this narration (right click and click on Open in New Tab) and fill in the ten blanks:
2 In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that the whole empire should be (1) registered. 2 This first registration took place while Quirinius was governing Syria. 3 So everyone went to be registered, each to his own (2)town.
4 And Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family line of David, 5 to be registered along with Mary, who was engaged to him and was (3) pregnant. 6 While they were there, the time came for her to give (4) birth. 7 Then she gave birth to her firstborn Son, and she wrapped Him snugly in cloth and laid Him in a feeding trough—because there was no room for them at the lodging (5) place.
8 In the same region, shepherds were staying out in the fields and keeping watch at night over their flock. 9 Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were (6)terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Don’t be (7) afraid, for look, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the (8) people: 11 Today a Savior, who is Messiah the Lord, was born for you in the city of David.12 This will be the (9) sign for you: You will find a (10) baby wrapped snugly in cloth and lying in a feeding trough.”
13 Suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host with the angel, praising God and saying:

14 Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to people He favors!
15 When the angels had left them and returned to heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go straight to Bethlehem and see what has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.”
16 They hurried off and found both Mary and Joseph, and the baby who was lying in the feeding trough. 17 After seeing them, they reported the message they were told about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary was treasuring up all these things in her heart and meditating on them. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had seen and heard, just as they had been told.
